Yay.
I can’t really say more than that. It was a slow week, actually, but it was also an interesting week. I’ve gone back to editing my previous works and even my RPG rulebook, which is a project I truly started in November of ’21. It was a weird disconnect between then and now. More than anything because I have no one to take a look at it. It’s hard to alpha-test a game if no one is gaming.
Aside from that, work on the review of The Grand Tour is going slow, but steady.
I have thought of some new ideas in the meantime, trying to come up with something fresh, but it’s hard to come up with new things when everything around me is old and decaying.
Anyways, I have been trying to change some more things in my life, not only for the writing. I have finally made the leap of turning away from Windows to Linux. I’m currently running Ubuntu 20.04, but I have to say, it’s a bit limited. I was hoping more freedom, especially regarding the gog.com availability of games. Apparently version 20.04 made changes that create some problems in making games work well in it. I may end up trying another distro, but in the meantime, I’m waiting for a few weeks before I give up completely on Ubuntu.
In completely different news, I’ve been watching House all over again and really paying attention to it. It’s funny how some stories change as I grow older. Its story is no longer the cool lonesome doctor solving puzzles and being mean. It’s now a group of people who have way too much to hide trying to solve other people’s problems in order to avoid their own. Weird.
I have dropped painting, haven’t touched a brush or easel in some time, but that is another matter completely. I’ve been hankering for music, but knowing my luck, as soon as I touch the guitar, the strings are going to snap and the amplifier is going to burst into flames. I should try it again, though.
I have been trying to keep an open mind regarding the arts around me in Italy, but it’s hard to separate the beautiful art I see with the terrible things they depict. I have a problem with Christianity as I imagine smart people have, so I hate seeing fantastic pieces depicting shitty things of Christianity. And before someone comes along talking about freedom of religion, don’t. I don’t care. You can say and do whatever you want in your own space, but don’t come knocking on my door with that crap.
And to close up, I have been avoiding meat for some time now and it is having an effect on my body. I’m afraid I’m losing a lot of weight very quickly, so I may change some things if this keeps up.
In the world of reading, I have taken a quick break because after I finished Amanda Palmer’s Art of Asking, I need some time to process. I had started Takuan Soho’s Kendo before I started Art of Asking, but it’s kind of a heavy read. I may take some time.
Another book I most definitely have to finish reading is the Joshua Foer’s Moonwalking with Einstein, a book about memory and memorisation. I’m really curious about this one, which I also started but haven’t finished because it requires focus and time to properly take in.
